چکیده

In this paper, we present a method for 3D volumetric reconstruction of landscape from airborne laser scanner data. The method applies a voxel model, where volume is divided to sub-volume particles, voxels, associated with a scalar or vector value. In the presented study the voxel model is generated from airborne laser scanner data, which enables measurement of large areas. Laser scanning provides simultaneously 3D co-ordinates and intensity-values for the laser pulses reflected from the surfaces. The typical density of laser data is several points per square meter and instruments are able to register more than one echo of the returning signal. Therefore, airborne laser scanning provides information not just about the ground surface, but also about the objects on top of the ground surface. In the study, several voxel models are derived from two different laser measurement data sets covering the same area. The models are compared and analysed.

Detecting and Modelling the Trend of Change in the Forest Land Use in Garasu Watershed Area Using Landscape Metrics

Detecting, predicting and quantifying the trends of landscape pattern change in the forests of Gharasu watershed area are necessary so as to assess the crises or prevent them. To this aim, the land use maps belonging to the years 1987, 2002 and 2018 were classified through the maximum likelihood method, and the forest area changes were estimated. Then, through the Geomod model and the forest ch...

Volume Modelling: Representations and Advanced Operations

This paper presents our approach to volume modelling which combines volume representations by voxel data and by continuous real functions. We discuss the main differences between direct volume visualization and modelling with voxel data, questions of conversion between two representations including volume reconstruction from contour data. We illustrate the approach by several advanced operation...

A model based, anatomy dependent method for ultra-fast creation of primary SPECT projections

Introduction: Monte Carlo (MC) is the most common method for simulating virtual SPECT projections. It is useful for optimizing procedures, evaluating correction algorithms and more recently image reconstruction as a forward projector in iterative algorithms; however, the main drawback of MC is its long run time. We introduced a model based method considering the eff...

Modelling the impact of landscape connectivity on catchment water balance and groundwater response

Terrain analysis based on digital elevation models is being routinely used in hydrological modelling. However, landscape connectivity enabling the routing of flow and nutrients from upslope landscape units to adjacent downslope landscape units within a sub watershed is not commonly incorporated into catchment scale models. This paper describes a process of generating connected landscape units w...

MapScript: A Map Algebra Programming Language for Spatial Modelling

Dynamic spatial analysis addresses computational aspects of space-time processing. This paper describes the development of a spatial analysis tool and modelling framework that together offer a solution for simulating landscape processes. A better approach to integrating landscape spatial analysis with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) is advocated in this paper. Enhancements include specia...
